We could debate for many long hours about what technologies could be available in the future but, the d20 Future games designers have made it easy for us by creating progress levels (PL). My best guess of advancement one thousand years from now is that humans are well into PL 6 and just beginning PL 7. At this level genetic engineering is well understood and common. Medical science used nanotechnology for cellular repair. The need for chemical fuel is abolished. Robots are becoming more human-like and common place in society. The first hover cars are introduced. Projectile weapons are being replaced with energy weapons. Computer technology links societies within a solar system. PL 6 items are common. PL 7 items are rare and difficult to obtain.
